An LA county native,
Rebecca is a West Coast writer, lecturer, and editor. She teaches creative writing, literature, research, and composition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she is part of the 2027 PhD in English & Creative Writing and Women's and Gender Studies cohorts and served as Associate Editor of cream city review. She is a recipient of the Helmut W. Hampel Fellowship for Queer Advocacy and two Graduate Student Excellence Fellowships for her work on queer traditional Irish session culture and West-Coast narrative. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Mount Saint Mary's University and a BA in English & Spanish literature from Azusa Pacific University.
Across the industry, she has worked as a dissertation editor & coach, a Pasadena City College writing mentor and instructor, freelance English curriculum developer, freelance ghost writer for personal and company branding, and as Associate Editor, Grant Writer, and Publicist for the nonprofit Red Hen Press. The former Managing Editor of The Los Angeles Review and freelance editor for Astra Publishing House, she has supported hundreds of manuscripts through the publication process.
Her most recent novel, SHOW PONY, about a child prodigy's escape from fame, fortune, and exploitation in the arts, is seeking its forever home.
She lives with her partner, two ball pythons, and stumpy-tail cattle dog in Milwaukee and Los Angeles.
